Thomas Wood
Overview
Dr. Thomas Wood is an orthopaedic surgeon and early career researcher as well as an Assistant Professor at McMaster University (Surgery). He is the Director of the Hamilton Arthroplasty Research Group and the Research Chair for the Canadian Arthroplasty Society. Dr. Wood’s research focuses on improving the outcomes of patients undergoing arthroplasty. Arthroplasty is the definitive treatment for end stage osteoarthritis, the most common cause of disability in older adults worldwide. With aging populations and increasing rates of obesity, rates of osteoarthritis are projected to increase globally well into the middle of the century making arthroplasty a critical area of research related to aging.
