Ramla Qureshi
Overview
Dr. Ramla Qureshi’s research focuses on the resilience of the built environment under extreme loads, such as fires, earthquakes, and cascading hazard scenarios. Within this, she investigates the performance of various building archetypes to ensure that structural systems not only survive catastrophic events but also support safe and efficient evacuations for all occupants. However, as people age, they become increasingly vulnerable to extreme events due to reduced mobility, slower reaction times, and a heightened risk of injury during emergencies. Dr. Qureshi is integrating advanced structural modeling with human egress behavior analysis to directly inform the development of safer structures.
