Saman Sadeghi
Overview
Saman Sadeghi’s research is focused on the discovery, preclinical validation and clinical translation of molecular imaging agents. Molecular imaging can detect early-stage age related changes in the brain associated with neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and Huntington’s disease. For example, in vivo imaging can detect various components of age-associated molecular processes, such changes in neurotrophic factors or bioenergetic impairments through PET imaging of mitochondrial activity. Diagnostic imaging can identify aging individuals who are at risk for progression of specific diseases so that they can benefit from precisely targeted interventions. Molecular imaging can also enable earlier and more accurate diagnosis of aging related musculoskeletal system diseases such as development of osteoarthritis.
