Overview

Ram Mishra is a Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster University. His research interests include dopamine, neuropeptides, receptor function, schizophrenia and Parkinson’s Disease. Research in his lab focuses on genetic, biomechanical and molecular mechanisms. He is particularly interested in the role of dopamine receptors in neuropsychiatric disorders such as Parkinson’s Disease, a complex neurodegenerative disease commonly found in older adults. He aims to use his research to improve drug development and treatments. In addition, Ram is the Co-Director of the School of Biomedical Engineering and supervises many graduate students.
