Overview

Jeremy Walsh’s research focuses on characterizing the mechanisms underlying the cognitive enhancing effects of exercise and other daily behaviours (diet, screen time, sleep and cognitive stimulation). The overarching goal of this research is to apply this knowledge to develop interventions that optimize cognitive health and protect against neurological disease in middle-to-older aged adults. We are particularly interested in characterizing the acute and long-term impacts of these behaviours on the neuroactive hormone brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), cerebral blood flow and cerebrovascular function, and cognition.
