Sandeep Raha

Health Sciences

Overview

Sandeep Raha’s research focuses on understanding how environmental and physiological stresses for pregnant people impact the development and health outcomes of the baby. Raha is interested in how chemicals like cannabis affect the cells and organs, such as the placenta, and how this connects to altered health outcomes in the baby. Raha’s work can have long-term implications for therapeutic strategies and prognostic guidelines. Specifically, many of the stresses experienced by individuals during pregnancy may evoke the characteristics of premature aging in the placenta and fetus.
