Jonathan Zhang
Overview
Jonathan Zhang’s research revolves around topics in health economics that are either directly affected by an aging population or of policy-relevance to aging populations. He has done extensive research on issues around the opioid epidemic, which disproportionately affects the near-elderly, those in pain and disabled, among others. He is also working on studying the design and evaluation of disability insurance, an important welfare program especially for any country with an aging population. How does disability insurance impact health outcomes and mortality? When and why do people apply for disability insurance?
