Overview

Qiyin Fang is a Professor in the Department of Engineering Physics. He is a Fellow of the International Society of Optical Engineering (SPIE) and a Canada Research Chair in Biophotonics (Laureate). He is currently leading a project that retrofits the interior of a house to develop and test smart technology that will allow older adults to live at home longer. Qiyin aims to create more efficient care for our aging population by creating the means that will give older adults more independence while aging in place. Qiyin’s expertise includes microscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy and imaging, intelligent sensing for point-of-care, and environmental monitoring.
