Overview

Dr. Dawn Bowdish is a Professor at McMaster University (Medicine), the Canada Research Chair in Aging & Immunity and the Executive Director of the Firestone Institute of Respiratory Health. Dr. Bowdish and her research team investigate what makes older adults vulnerable to pneumonia and COVID-19, how age-associated inflammation and the microbiome impact healthy aging and how our response to vaccines changes with age. By understanding the aging immune system she hopes to protect older adults from infection by improving their immune systems. She also sits on the Board of Directors of the Lung Health Foundation and advocates to increase research funding for lung health and advocates to improve vaccination in older adults and people living with chronic lung disease.
