Drs. Dawn Bowdish, Laurel Trainor and Susan Denburg, three accomplished academics, engaged community members and leaders in aging research have been honoured with Women of Distinction Awards from YWCA Hamilton.
Dawn Bowdish is the winner of the Woman of Distinction Award in Health/Recreation. She is a professor in the department of pathology and molecular medicine and executive director of the Firestone Institute for Respiratory Health. Bowdish leads research on how aging impacts the body’s immune response, infections and disease.
Susan Denburg is this year’s recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award. Executive Vice-Dean & Associate Vice-President, Academic in the Faculty of Health Sciences and a professor in the psychiatry & behavioural neurosciences department, Denburg is a tireless champion of aging research at McMaster.
