The McMaster Institute for Research on Aging is thrilled to kick off the 2025 MIRA Trainee Talks! This event brings together interdisciplinary trainees from diverse research backgrounds to present their research and engage with the aging research community at McMaster University. On January 30, MIRA hosted the first Trainee Talks of the academic year at the Spark CoLab, providing trainees with a space to connect with fellow aging researchers, enjoy lunch, receive feedback on their projects and ask questions.

We would like to thank our presenters:

Sama Jaberi, PhD, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neuroscience, Faculty of Health Sciences

Supervisor: Dr. Margaret Fhanestock

PET tracers for diagnosis of basal forebrain neurodegeneration in aging

“MIRA provides lots of opportunity, it’s good for projects that are just starting out. They provide great resources and access to potential new supports”
Sama Jaberi, PhD

Miriam Samuel, Undergraduate, School of Interdisciplinary Science, Faculty of Science

Supervisor: Dr. Janet Pritchard
