MIRA Trainee Talks Kick Off the New Academic Year

Last Tuesday, the MIRA Trainee Network hosted the first MIRA Trainee Talks of the new academic year. Over 20 trainees from various departments and faculties gathered at the McMaster CoLab to collaborate, share lunch, and present their research on aging.

The day’s presenters included:

Victrine Tseung, a postdoctoral fellow in the Faculty of Science, School of Rehabilitation, who presented her research titled “Stroke Family Caregivers’ Occupational Engagement Over Time.” Her work is supported by her supervisor, Dr. Ada Tang.

Oishee Ghosh, a Master’s student in the Faculty of Engineering, School of Biomedical Engineering, who presented “A Validation of Turn-Key Indoor Positioning Systems Using the ESP-NOW and MQTT Protocols.” Oishee’s research is co-funded by MIRA and AGE-WELL, and is supported by her supervisor Dr. Qiyin Fang.

Sofya Ermolina, a PhD candidate in the Faculty of Health Sciences, School of Medicine, who presented “Protracted Peripheral Inflammation Contributes to Post-Pneumonia Cognitive Decline.” Her work is supported by Dr. Dawn Bowdish.
