Overview

Cansu Ekmekcioglu is an Assistant Professor of Information Systems at the Degroote School of Business at McMaster University. Her research integrates theories and methodologies from information science and human-computer interaction to evaluate and improve the design and use of digital technologies in human service, migration, and humanitarian contexts for individual and institutional wellbeing. Cansu’s research focuses on centering the lived experiences of underrepresented users, such as older adults, immigrants, and marginalized workers, to better inform sustainable and equitable technology design. Her work has entailed close collaboration with community organizations, non-profits, entrepreneurs, corporations, and policymakers allowing her to translate her research insights into real-world impact.
