Overview

John Connolly is the Chair and Director of McMaster University’s Cognitive Science of Language program, co-directs the Language, Memory and Brain Lab (LMBLab), and is a member of MINDS (McMaster Institute for Neuroscience Discovery and Study). John’s research examines consciousness, with applications to brain injury, such as the vegetative state, the locked-in syndrome, and coma. His work aims to develop methods to record brain activity, allowing cognitive function assessment for those who are unable to use language to communicate. Over the past 35 years, John has published extensively on cognitive neuroscience of language with a particular emphasis on the use of brain imaging techniques.
