Since 2002, Ian Bruce has worked within the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at McMaster University. He is a Professor for the McMaster School of Biomedical Engineering, Associate Member of the Department of Psychology, Neuroscience & Behaviour and Associate Director of McMaster’s LIVELab. His research focuses on applications of biomedical engineering and neuroscience approaches to hearing and hearing disorders. As the Director of the Auditory Engineering Laboratory, he is looking to improve assistive devices for the hearing impaired, specifically older adults. By using engineering methods to understand the physiological mechanisms that contribute to hearing loss, he aims to study and improve the lives of hearing impaired individuals.
