Hsien Seow is the Canada Research Chair in Palliative Care, Cancer and Health System Innovation, an Associate Professor in the Department of Oncology and an Associate Member of the Department of Health Research Methods, Evidence and Impact (HEI) at McMaster University. Hsien is also the Director of the McMaster-ICES hub and an Escarpment Cancer Research Institute Scientist. His research expertise is in health services and policy research, quality measurement and improvement, population-based analytics, program evaluation and quality indicator development. Hsien’s research is focused on innovating the palliative care health system and improving quality of care, particularly in the home and community. He has worked with RAND Health Care, the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, Health Quality Ontario and health policy makers to improve palliative care. His research interests involve ways to improve the experience of family caregivers to those with life limiting illness and provide palliative care to all patients and families facing serious illness right from diagnosis.
