Dawn Bowdish, a member of the McMaster Institute for Research on Aging, has been named a University Scholar.
She is one of four members of the McMaster community have been named.​
The title is intended to recognize faculty members in mid-career who have already distinguished themselves as international scholars.
Recipients are considered global leaders in a number of diverse research areas and academic disciplines.
Each University Scholar will receive $15,000 each year of the award provided by McMaster provost and Vice President (Academic) David Farrar and the applicable faculty dean.
Among this year’s winners are three Canada Research Chair holders – Prashant Mhaskar, Dawn Bowdish, and Guillaume Paré.
The list of 2018 University Scholar recipients is as follows:
Prashant Mhaskar – professor, Chemical Engineering; Canada Research Chair in Nonlinear and Fault Tolerant Control
Dawn Bowdish – associate professor, Pathology and Molecular Medicine; Canada Research Chair in Aging and Immunity
Guillaume Paré – associate professor, Pathology and Molecular Medicine; Canada Research Chair in Genetic; Molecular Epidemiology
Daniel Machiela – associate professor, Religious Studies
