MIRA member receives distinguished service award

Geriatrician Alexandra Papaioannou is receiving the 2017 Ronald Cape Distinguished Service Award from the Canadian Geriatrics Society.

The McMaster University professor of medicine and executive member of the McMaster Institute for Research on Aging (MIRA) has developed clinical practice guidelines on osteoporosis and preventing fractures in long term care.

She founded the Geriatric Education and Research in Aging Sciences (GERAS) Centre at St. Peter’s Hospital.
