On November 26th, over 20 trainees gathered at the McMaster Spark CoLab to attend the final MIRA Trainee Talks of 2024—a showcase of trainee research in aging across McMaster Faculties, featuring presentations from members of our own Trainee Network.

We would like to thank our presenters who delivered engaging and though-provoking talks throughout the year. We’d also like to thank all attendees of the Trainee Talks series: your dedication and engagement are why the McMaster aging research community is strong, cohesive and collaborative.

Thank you to our November presenters, listed below.

Stephanie Lucchese, RN and PhD candidate from the School of Nursing, Faculty of Health Sciences presented “Transitioning older adults with mental illness and/or dementia and alternate level of care designations to the community from hospital

Samirasadat Jamalidinan & Delina Mekonnen, PhD students from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Faculty of Engineering presented “Enhancing early cancer detection: Integrating machine learning and data analytics on clinical data.”

Holly Edward, PhD candidate from the School of Rehabilitation Sciences, Faculty of Health Sciences who presented “Exploring the use of tele-rehabilitation for older adults with chronic conditions“. Holly is the recipient of the LCMA PhD Scholarship.
