Frailty assessments are usually validated by how well they predict mortality, long-term care admission, or hospitalization, and this has led to the concept that frailty is a one-way street to end of life. However, frailty interventions can be successful and lead to a reduction in vulnerability to adverse outcomes.

During this webinar, guest speaker Dr. Carol Holland, psychologist and researcher at the Centre for Ageing Research at Lancaster University, will discuss how combining quantitative intervention outcomes associated with physical strength and qualitative measures capturing psychological resilience can explain how with people of similar levels of physical frailty show “resilience despite frailty.”

The discussant for this seminar will be Dr. Marla Beauchamp, a Physical Therapist and Assistant Professor in the School of Rehabilitation Science at McMaster, who conducts research in mobility, aging and chronic disease.
