The Graduate Student Professional Development Award (GSPDA) offers essential support to graduate students working with MIRA researchers. These awards are designed to facilitate a range of activities, including presenting at academic conferences (virtual or in-person), attending professional training programs, completing online courses at other institutions or participating in research activities at external locations.
Valued at $500 per award, the GSPDA is awarded biannually in April and September to assist graduate students in expanding their professional and academic endeavors. This year, MIRA is proud to announce the recipients of the GSPDA: master’s student Jiyeon Park and postdoctoral fellow Jasdeep Dhillon.
Jiyeon Park from the Faculty of Science, will be presenting her project “Advanced controlled transcranial magnetic stimulation to alleviate pain in diabetic neuropathy” at the 6th International Brain Stimulation Conference taking place February 23 -26 2025 in Kobe, Japan. Jiyeon’s work is supported by MIRA member and professor Aimee Nelson from the Faculty of Science and Engineering.
Jasdeep Dhillon from the Faculty of Health Science and this year’s recipient of the AGE-WELL MIRA Co-funded EPIC-AT Fellowship, will present his work on PACIFIC in collaboration with principal investigator Lauren Griffith. Jasdeep will participate in “Session Five: Interventions in Frailty” at the Frailty, Illness and Health in Deep Old Age: Perspectives from Medical Sociology and Social Gerontology conference on December 11, 2024, in Liverpool, England. His work is supported by MIRA member and assistant professor Cynthia Lokker from the Faculty of Health Sciences.
