The McMaster Institute for Research on Aging (MIRA) is pleased to announce that the Institute has been named a Beachhead with envisaAGE, a pan-Canadian initiative fostering quality aging through technological innovation.
MIRA joins fellow Beachheads the KITE Research Institute at the University Health Network, and Centre de recherche en gestion des services de santé (CRGSS) — FSA Université Laval. The Beachhead program, supported by AGE-WELL and MEDTEQ+, invites research entities to share their expertise in measurement and evaluation of new technologies with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that have been selected for funding as part of collaborative projects, and measure the effectiveness of SMEs’ technologies in Community Labs – real-world settings that support older adults and caregivers, including long-term care facilities, retirement communities and homes.
“We’re pleased to welcome KITE, MIRA and CRGSS to the envisAGE initiative dedicated to fostering commercial pathways for Canadian AgeTech and meaningful outcomes for older adults and caregivers,” said Sabrina Boutin, Vice-President MEDTEQ+ and Executive Director of envisAGE. “The expertise Beachheads provide is essential to support SMEs in advancing AgeTech solutions that meet the needs of older adults, caregivers, health and community service providers.”

“MIRA is pleased to join envisAGE as a Beachhead™, as it will provide further opportunities for our researchers to connect with small and medium-sized enterprises and Community Labs, and conduct stakeholder engaged research that is a core part of our vision for improving the lives of older adults. We are excited to see what we can do together to enable older adults to live longer, healthier and more independent lives.”
