MIRA member and expert in clinical epidemiology and aging, Andrew Costa was featured in an article from the Hamilton Spectator about his study on long-term-care homes in Ontario during COVID-19. As the studies’ senior author, Costa was able to detail the reasons behind the studies’ main finding that for-profit long-term-care homes were responsible for nearly twice as many COVID-19 cases and deaths during outbreaks than not-for-profit care homes or those operated by municipalities.
